Pouting Doesn't Help

There is a trail on the campus here that goes to a place called Inspiration Point (which Brody mistakenly called it Expiration Point, which I thought was pretty funny) that Brody has been eagerly anticipating hiking since we got here.
Inspiration Point is the rock just above the tree stump in the deck.

This is our 4th day here but to the kids it must seem like we have been here forever! Jovie has come down with a cold and I told Brody I am not up to carrying Jovie up and down the trail and she is not up to doing it herself right now. But Daddy has told him that after we eat lunch (which is at 2) he will take him up. That is not soon enough for Brody. He wants to do it now. So he started pouting and whining.

He had my camera because we saw some Canada geese with 2 little goslings and he was taking pictures of them. I had told him to be careful and he usually is. But in his pouty mood, he was more concerned with me noticing that he was not happy and he tripped and fell with the camera hitting the rocky ground with a thud. He scraped his elbow, which I kissed and then I checked out the camera. It is broken. The lens is stuck out and crooked. If anyone has suggestions on how to fix it, I would greatly appreciate it. It's a Canon G10.

So, for now, no more pictures. Brody was very distraught, because I was sad. We had a nice discussion about taking care of things and attitudes and how they affect us. Then he was even more distraught because he can't take pictures with a broken camera. Poor little guy.

Hopefully this will be a lesson to him, and to me too. Should I let him use my camera? Maybe not. But he has a love for taking pictures and I don't want to kill that.

I just realized I don't have a very good description about the damage. The lens will not go back into the camera and will not budge, although I am a little hesitant to push it too hard. That's about the best I can do for a description without questions about it. I will have Rob look at it when he gets off work today...
